Dear journalists,

We are pleased to invite you to a press conference on the occasion of the "Zero Separation Tours – Brussels" (an initiative by the non-profit organization Noah's Ark Belgium), which will take place on May 14, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Jules Bordet Institute, located at 90 Meylemeersstraat, 1070 Anderlecht, in the Tagnon Auditorium.

On the occasion of the arrival of internationally renowned experts, the non-profit organization Noah's Ark Belgium and the Brussels University Hospital are pleased to invite you to an exceptional gathering on the theme of zero separation. In Belgium, 10,000 newborns are involved in this life-saving approach each year.

According to the World Health Organization, the recommendations are clear: to give newborns the best chances of survival and development, they must receive continuous skin-to-skin care with their parent from birth.

This conference will address essential topics that will be explained to you by exceptional members:

  • Dr. Nils Bergman (Sweden), doctor, neonatologist, neuroscientific researcher, and professor in pharmacological sciences. He is the leading initiator of the research into immediate skin-to-skin care (iKMC) and the principal investigator of the WHO study.
  • Dr. Stina Klemming (Sweden), doctor, NIDCAP trainer at the NIDCAP Training and Research Center in Lund-Malmö, and former director of the NIDCAP center at the Karolinska Institute. She is a pioneer and advocate of mother-child-oriented care techniques and a member of the Ipistoss research team.
  • Dr. Nathalie Charpak (Colombia), French-Colombian pediatrician, founder of the Kangaroo Foundation, and associate researcher at the Pontifical Javeriana University. Her research on the impact of kangaroo care on the health of premature and/or low birth weight babies earned her international recognition, including the French Légion d’Honneur.
